Sure, they won’t call them house brands, but we know better than to believe Saks and Bloomingdales when they talk about their new “menswear collections.” This fall, Saks and Bloomies are rolling out newer, more upscale house brands. Bloomingdales has discontinued Joseph and Lyman and Metropolitan View, while Saks has opened up a whole window for their new in-house labels. Bloomingdales’ line looks to use similar quality as their competitors, but for 30-40% less. Saks also is taking this route by offering things like Loro Piana fabrics for coats and quality Italian-made shoes.
