Archive for the ‘Sales’ Category

We waited until after Christmas for our sales update for a couple of reasons. First, everyone slashes prices like mad right after the big day, and second, we figured you might have picked up some extra spending money yesterday.

So, to start things off, we’ll give you the head’s up on our favorite sale. Paul Stuart just dropped their holiday sale and boy are we happy. Not only are their tons of great Paul Stuart goods that you can pick up, but the Phineas Cole collection is first rate. There are a couple pieces worth checking out: the Michael Glen Plaid Suit, Phillip Chalk Stripe Suit, Michael Donegal Tweed Suit (above), Nigel Stripe Dress Shirt, and Astor Twill Check Dress Shirt. Of All of these, the Donegal Tweed piece reigns supreme. It’s absolutely gorgeous and we love how Phineas Cole knows to keep notch lapels slim despite their love for big sweeping peak lapels. The whole suit will run you 1,097—$800 for just the jacket–which may sound pricey, but we assure you is not a lot to pay for this kind of quality.

This Week in Sales

Okay, after our long weekend off, were ready to hit you with a good list of sales going on. Now that it’s actually time to start thinking about your holiday shopping, here are some places to find goods for family, friends, or yourself.

Reiss Peak Lapel Tuxedo, $483

First, we want to point you to one of our favorite brands, Reiss, and their 50% off sale. They have a great European aesthetic without going overboard. Currently, you can snag yourself a gorgeous peak lapel tuxedo for $483 and their killer overnight bag for $200.

Next, it’s always worth checking out some of your go-to guys as they always have some good deals around the holidays. Ralph Lauren is offering up to 40% off most of its stocks online, with plenty of deals to be had in stores, as well. You can get a great cashmere knit tie for $70 or their gorgeous wool-angora three-piece suit for a mere $1,199. J. Crew always has a deal to be had online, which is nice for all of us that aren’t quite ready to buy our buddy a Ralph Lauren three-piece suit for Christmas. You can get tons of simple pieces, like their slim-fit crewnecks for $20, a simple swallow motif tie for $40, or a wool-cashmere jersey v-neck for $55.

Ralph Lauren Double-Breasted Blazer, $800

In the world of department stores there are also some deals to be had. Barney’s is currently taking 40% off of a lot of great merchandise, both in-stores and online. Bloomies is also chopping up to 40% off plenty of stock both in stores and online just in time for the holidays. Bergdorf is also giving a 40% discount off of their 3rd floor contemporary stock. Finally, Saks is taking off a modest 25%, but look for that to escalate a bit over the next few weeks.

Common Projects Achilles, $166

Finally, there’s always Gilt Groupe. Today they’re having a great Ralph Lauren sale as well as Dunhill accessories, Jack Spade bags and ties, Tim Hamilton clothing, and some affordable stuff by American Apparel. Tomorrow they’ll be hosting Hickey and Steven Alan, with Marc Jacobs Collection, Parke and Ronen, and Rogan on Friday. Here’s your invitation to Gilt Man. Also on the horizon is the Jetsetter sale for the gorgeous Gramarcy Park Hotel in New York, if you’re looking for a proper night out in the city over the month or two. Here’s your invitation to Jetsetter.

Black Friday

The big day is here. The most conflicting shopping day of the year. On one hand you want to get outside and pick up all the deals you can, on the other hand you don’t want to go anywhere near a store for fear of being trampled. If you’re in New York, we’ll point you to Racked NY for all of the sales that are worth checking out. Good luck…

Sales to Check Out

Giorgio Armani Sample Sale Through Saturday

This week looks to be a good one in the world of sales, so if you have some extra cash floating around, we suggest you think about letting it go. First, through Saturday, the honorable Isaia Napoli is holding a sample sale where you can get their Italian hand-made suits, sport coats, and dress shirts for 75% off. While the tailored goods may still be relatively expensive, you should be able to get some of the finest shirts out there for a very reasonable price. Starting tomorrow at 8:30 am, Steven Alan will be hosting as sample sale, as well. This is a money place to get a great plaid shirt or oxford shirt for $70. Also tomorrow, Hickey will be hosting a sample along with Original Penguin. We hope that they have some of their sport coats because their killer tweed jackets would be a steal at 65-80% off. Finally, Giorgio Armani will be hosting a sample that will include their Giorgio Armani, Armani Collezioni, Emporio Armani, and Armani Jeans collections. We don’t know much about this, but if it ends up being good, you could be getting some of the best clothes (and shoes) in the world for 80% off.

Calvin Klein Collection

Along with these sample sales, you should keep your eye on the Gilt Man sales this week. Today they had some solid pieces by Jil Sander, Woolrich, and James Perse. Tomorrow we’re eyeing up their Calvin Klein Collection and Trafalgar sales, and Friday means Diesel, Portolano Scarves, and Elie Tahari. Here is your invite to Gilt Man.

Giorgio Armani Sample Sale, 123 W. 18th St.

Hickey and Original Penguin Sample Sale, 79 9th Ave.

Isaia Napoli Sample Sale, 250 5th Ave.

Wow. The line-up is out and it’s money. If you don’t know, the Pop-Up Flea Market is a selection of quality menswear brands at reasonable prices, curated by the guys at A Continuous Lean. The event kicks off Friday in Manhattan at 3 pm.

Expect to find: Billykirk, Alexander West, Michael Andrews Bespoke, Gitman Brothers, Schott NYC, Rogues Gallery, Wolf vs. Goat, Tanner Goods, Tellason, J. Crew, Jack Spade, Ohio Knitting Mills, No Mas, Burkman Bros., The Hill-Side, and Mister Mort. You’ll also see some vintage stuff, furniture, accessories, “and a few more surprises.”

All of this should be pretty exciting. Jack Spade should prove promising and the nearly impossible-to-find Wolf vs. Goat stuff is worth checking out in person. You may not remember, but Wolf vs. Goat is a new line designed my Mauro Farinelli that emphasizes workwear with a gentlemanly twist.

Friday, November 20th, 3pm-9pm
Saturday November 21st, 11am-7pm and Sunday the 22nd 11am-6pm.

Inventory

Maybe you won’t be saving fashion, but you do have a chance to pick up enough stuff for cheap to save your wardrobe. Tomorrow from 7pm-10pm, Refinery29 and Inventory are teaming up for a nice little sample sale that will have goods from Rag & Bone, Steven Alan, Rogan, and some others. If you remember, way back in May there was a longer Save Fashion sample sale that had tons of great pickups. We suggest checking it out, but you’ll have to RSVP here or send an email to savefashion@krubbgroup.com. Thanks to the Choosy Beggar for giving us the heads up.

Also, Jean Shop will be on Gilt tomorrow and we expect it to be a good one. They make some of the best jeans on the market, so picking up a pair of their Rockers for 70% off is quite an event. Here is your invitation to Gilt.

Inventory, 237 Lafayette St.

The Coming Days in Sales

orig

Gilt Man is starting to kill it, so after today’s pretty solid Ralph Lauren Black Label sale, we’re getting pumped for Friday’s Men’s Designer Fall Favorites sale, which will feature great designers like Billy Reid, Dolce and Gabbana, and tons of Yohji Yamamoto labels. Yamamoto’s stuff is usually pretty interesting, and often too conceptual for our practical tastes, but if you’re in the market for a unique cashmere scarf, this may be your place to find a gorgeous red cashmere piece or a giant grey guy.

We’re even more excited for next Monday: the Ermenegildo Zegna sale will test out Gilt’s ability to actually bring in the good merchandise from these great brands. And then, probably the sale with the most potential yet: Jean Shop. If you’re eyeing up some serious selvage denim, look here. It just doesn’t get much better.

Outside the online world, you can look around Manhattan for some good deals. There’s an Emanuel Ungaro sample sale at 409 W 39th St at 9th Ave where you can find great seasonal items at 80% off from Thursday until Saturday. Hit up Saks from this Thursday until next Monday to find a private sale with 40% off tons of stuff. Or just check it online here. Ralph Lauren will also be 40% off much of their stock, starting tomorrow, at any of their stores and online. Enter the code NOV0509 and enjoy another 15% off.

And don’t forget to check out what’s left of the J. Crew Sample Sale through this Friday at 261 W 36th St between 7th & 8th on the 2nd floor from 10am-7pm daily.
