We think that the key to killing it with your style in the fall is being able to properly mix textures. Being smart with this will show you understand that dressing is more than color and fit.
When it comes to fall, wool and cashmere are your two main fabrics, but these two can come in so many different textures that you have plenty of options. Start with a casual herringbone jacket like this one from J. Crew. It’s down to earth so you won’t feel too much like you’re dressing up, but it will work in any setting. Pair that with some solid grey wool trousers, we went once again with the reliable J. Crew. This will create a base of your outfit that shows you not only understand fall colors and proportions, but that you know what textures work with what. We like a smart play of a chambray shirt because it’s different than all the other blue shirts, but it’s not like you’re making a fashion statement. Hickey is making an awesome one in selvage chambray, which means it will last you forever. We really love this knit tie by Ralph Lauren Black Label because it’s so unique. Knit ties are a great way to add texture to an outfit, but this particular tie has this awesome woven pattern that when combined with the cashmere fabric is really special. A simple black shoe is all you really need, we like this one by Rachel Comey because it isn’t really a dress shoe but more of a smart casual shoe. Pop on a nice knit cap if it’s cold outside and you’re good to go.
