With the premiere of Season 3 dropping tonight, we figured it was only right to put up a Mad Men Piece by Piece. In honor of the most stylish show on TV, here it is…
The style of Mad Men is well documented. Well tailored navy and grey suits with slim lapels and slimmer ties. It is heavily stylized, but at the same time very basic. Obviously, the charcoal suit is key. This piece from the venerable British label Acquascutum has everything that Don Draper would look for in a suit. In this particular look we would go with the two piece, but we highly suggest picking up the vest if you’re thinking about buying. The Seize sur Vingt dress shirt is the crisp option that is ideal with a gorgeous slim suit. It has a unique spread collar that we’re really diggin’ and the french cuffs are perfectly proportioned. A slim tie is key for the look, and this one by Ralph Lauren has all the right details. When it comes to cufflinks, we can’t imagine the boys at Sterling Cooper getting too wild. What we can see them doing is stopping by Paul Stuart to grab an elegant set of sterling silver links. The Barker Black shoes hit all the right notes as they combine classic design with just enough edge to make that charcoal suit look perfect. For accessories, there are two key pieces that every guy on the show has. First, a brilliant lighter for when you’re smoking three packs a day is key. And second, ever notice that high shine Mr. Draper has on his perfect head of hair? Yeah, we have, too. You gotta know he’s reaching for some quality pomade to keep everything in check.
